Wisconsin Institute for Discovery – Data Center
The state-of-the-art “machine room” or data center portion of the Wisconsin Institute of Discovery project is supplied with 500 KW with conduits for an additional 500 KW as power usage grows. The environment also provides dedicated, backed-up storage to support data-intensive research, secure high-speed networks that provide wireless and gigabit hard-wire connections. The machine room was specifically built to provide the Wisconsin Institutes of Discovery researchers with free and easy access to the external resources. At 3,150 square feet, this is currently the largest server room in existence on the UW-Madison campus.
