[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/6″][vc_column_text el_class=”project-title”]WPS Data Center[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”project-location”]Madison, WI[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text el_class=”project-description”]Work included switching out a new UPS unit and installing new switching cabinets at WPS Main Campus Data Center. No services could be lost as the company ran 24/7 and had clients all over the world. The project required two shutdowns during construction:
- The first shut down required some non-critical equipment while a new connection for a temporary generator was installed. A new service entrance section was also installed. The shutdown took four hours.
- The second shutdown was the most critical and involved the transfer of power from the old service section to the new service section, while keeping the building running on temporary generator power. This was a 12-hour process. A loss of service would have resulted in a $2 million penalty.
The project required coordination with several stakeholders as well as three separate owner construction managers during a four month construction period.
