Capitol West

Madison, WI

Findorff was selected as Construction Manager and General Contractor for the first phase of the Capitol West project located in downtown Madison.

Developed by the Alexander Company, phase one construction consisted of 160 residential units, 10,000 square-feet of commercial space, and numerous parking spaces.

Approved by the city after 18 months of negotiations and changes, this project redeveloped properties previously owned by Meriter Hospital at a total cost of $110 million for all three phases. Upon completion of the entire project, Capitol West will include a total of 400 condominiums, 20,000 square-feet of retail space and up to 100,000 square-feet of office and parking space.

Recycling was a major emphasis on the project and with the help of the Madison Environmental Group, more than 42 tons of furniture and building materials were donated or sold at discount prices to nonprofit organizations.
